Fats May Affect Diabetes Risk Differently
Not all dietary fats affect the body in the same way. Palmitic acid, a saturated fatty acid, may promote inflammation and impair insulin sensitivity, potentially increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes. In contrast, oleic acid, found abundantly in olive oil, may improve the body’s response to insulin and help counter some harmful effects of palmitic acid.
